Last night, I moved my two guinea pigs, Moira and Rose, into a new, larger cage, which they have taken to wonderfully already. This morning, however, during their weekly weigh-in, they had both fallen to around 890g. Rose weighed 915g the week prior, so a loss of 25g, whereas Moira weighed 923g, so a loss of 33g. I know these are both within the range of an empty vs. full bladder and an empty vs. full stomach, but just wanted to check whether the stress of the new cage and new environment could be causing this weight loss, especially since they have not been lower than 900g for awhile now. They have been gaining and/or consistent in their weight until today's weigh-in.

I'm no expert, but I would say as long as they are eating, drinking, peeing and pooping and are their normal selves, see what their weights are next week. They might just be too excited and have burned more calories!

I would check their weights again next week, a new cage may be stressful or it may be very exciting and they might be running around more- the weight loss you mention isnt an immediate cause for concern, especially as you can clearly link it to a change in environment!
