Katie I'm so pleased you managed to get Jacob to another vet. My fingers and toes are crossed for you both, he is in good hands.

x

Keeping my fingers crossed for poor Jacob and you!

Really hope Jacob has recovered now he has had some fluids and tlc from the other vet, bless you both you have been through it, big hugs to all involved and hope to read some news about Jacob perking up on this thread soon. x

He's home and he's a lot better now :)
He took hay and grass and cucumber and pepper from me this morning and he's just walked about the cage with is much better-c

Oh no, not too good news. He's became that same floppy way again. Luckily he responds to me but he can barely walk, it's a crawl and dragging his back legs. I'm going to the second vet right now with him.8...8...

I wish I could pow-pow the vet that did this to my boy.:...

Oh bless him fingers crossed the second vet can put him right x

Thanks a bunch.
Does anybody have any clue why the neutering caused this? Did he not get enough recovery time at the vets?:{

Also 2nd vet can't take him until 12.30pmmalletheadmallethead
Goodness I hope he's ok:(

Sound slike he has not recovered from the anesthetic well and is suffering from post operative shock, the fluids he got at the second vets should help.

I only had one nightmare neuter where the piggy recovered from anesthtic but abscessed and then herniated he had to be reoperated on to try and repair the herniation but sadly after 4 hours of surgery nothing could be done, I know how you feel about wanting to pow-pow the vet I ended up going to a second vet for Jumbos second op and have issues with the first vets treatment of him. Luckily I have now found a very good vet who has performed several neuters for us with oabsolutely no complications at all.

Keep trying to get fluids into him. Has he been on any pain relief? It sounds like a reaction to the anesthetic rather than a result of the operation itself do you know which anesthetic they used? usually it is isoflurane gas but my vet uses sevoflurane as the recovery times from it are wonderful.

Can you not just take him into the vets and leave him with them. I've done that when I can't get an appointment until later in the day. If he's there then they will give him some treatment if he requires it. If they can just give him some more fluids that could help. I really hope he will be ok.

Hi my OH is away to the vet with her as OH phoned and said it's emergancy surely it needs to be dealt with and they said they could fit him in... sorry but I hate vets right now:<>:(

I'll let you all know what they say.
What do I do if my poor baby keeps having these relapses?

I'm worried that I could still loose him?

Thank so much everybody where would I be without you all

Guys I wanted to ask what cage should be in? He was in a nero4 but it's too big for him?

He doesn't live there all the time by the way.:)

I keep any post op single pigs in a nero 2 sized cage to restrict their movement after surgery. Fleece for bedding changed twice daily

Hi they want to keep him in until 5pm when I call and may be overnight or longermallethead

What does everyone think?
:(

just caught up with this thread, poor little piggie, i would say the vets is the best place for him, at least if he takes another bad turn they can give him attention immediatly, sending healing vibes and cuddles your way, hope he makes a full recovery xx

Check when you ring that they have staff on duty overnight to check on him... many vets don't, in which case I would insist he comes home so you can keep regular checks on him overnight.

I hope he's ok

Thank you. I did want him home overnight but wondered if I was just obsessed or being an overworried pig mummy. I'm so worried but I know he is at the right place. My OH even got to take him to where he will be staying and it's set up with blankets and everything he will need and there's a lovely vet nurse going to watching and feeding him very often and a vet on standby. My poor little angel.... sorry I must be irratating you all now:{

of course you arent irritating us, we all completely understand and would be exactly the same!

Jacob's being well monitored and looked after, keep us update don his progress. x

you aren't irritatng anyone,i cannot believe this is happening to you again,its certainly not your best few days:(,big hugs to you and I'm hoping your baby is better soon xxxxxxxlots of healing vibes xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I don't know what to say, just sending a hug to you both.... I don't know what to do because at this time he's usually stealing my salad from my sandwich.... his brother is missing him as much as me.:(
