Waiting To Call The Vet...

Just wanted to say we're keeping our fingers and paws crossed too. She sounds like a fighter!

I've been in similar situations far too often over the last few years and know how heart-breaking it is. It never gets any easier :-(

Just got back. My lovely vet thinks she has got life in her yet. She's had another diuretic injection but a larger dose and I have frusol to give her every 8 hours. She has been xrayed and there is a lot of fluid on her lungs. She is not sure if this is heart or pneumonia so treating thus first then back Friday for a progress report. She has perked up since being out and was naughty to be xrayed which why the vet wants to keep going with her.

I am trying to be cautiously optimistic and the tears are gone for now. Let's hope all your healing vibes are working! Thank you xxxxxxxxxxxx

That's a brilliant vet visit. So pleased the diuretic has been increased and you have oral meds too. If you need help with heart stuff let me know. I know you have had a heart pig before though.

HUGS! All the best! Tegyd was on frusol 3 times a day when she had the build up of fluids on her chest; it was more effective that other diuretics.

Thanks guys. Yes I have had a lot of success with heart pigs and frusol so hope that helps. One guinea I had I used it for 3 years! I mentioned Fortekor and she wants to get rid of the fluid first then she'll know if it's heart or not.

I am trying not to get too enthusiastic, she is still a very sick piggy, she needs to eat and drink which is hard for her currently, and I know things can go either way. Keep sending those vibes :-)

That's brilliant, sorry forgot to answer on the Metatone earlier.

Thank you everyone. Hope you don't mind me posting this level of detail but I know it's nice to hear how things are going. She's eaten celery, cabbage and lettuce and is now sleeping..
Keep posting what every you feel you want to post Hun, were here with you. Come on piggy your clearly a fighter keep it up little one x

She's still here! A little up and down and not eating as much as I would like, but there were poops so she must be sneaking it in! Her breathing is still laboured but no worse. She is starting to take a small amount of water from the syringe. So all in all...ok. I guess now it's just time. I tried to leave her alone last night but at 5.30 couldn't bear it anymore but she did get a few hours peace and quiet away from humans!

Aw bless her, I'm sure she's appreciated your company! All sounds fairly positive to me, especially that she's drinking by herself again x

An update... She went downhill earlier on, breathing badly which means she won't eat and we end up in a vicious circle. Phoned vet and she is now on a v large dose of frusol (0.3 ml) 3 times a day which is helping a little. Poor thing looks so sad. She is still taking water from the syringe which is good and not 'hiccuping' or straining for breath now. I feel like it's one step forward and another back at the moment.

My vet thinks it's now a combination of heart problem and respiratory infection. One setting off the other but we are not sure which way around. Seeing her again first thing tomorrow.

I am exhausted! But seeing her little face all full of hope makes it worthwhile. All the time she is trying then we will. My vet said we are doing literally all we can and she thinks it's humane to continue which is the main thing. I will post a pigture of her later so you can see who the fuss is all about! Xx

Oh blimey, bet you had a fright, glad the vet has agreed to a higher dose and that she is still taking fluids ok.

Poor little soul. She definately sounds like she's a fighter that's for sure. And you are doing all you can.
