Hi we are New Guinea pig owners ( I had Guinea pigs when I was a teenager a while ago). What’s best to put at the bottom of a cage, we have a Kavve fleece at the bottom. We have some puppy pads and some normal fleeces to go on the bottom when we do the big clean out.

I’ve heard sawdust isn’t great to have on the bottom of the cage as it can cause respiratory problems.

What things to people have ? Picture of Sheldon eating veggies to show what we have.

If you are wanting to use just fleece, then puppy pads and then the fleece on top is sufficient and you don’t need anything else underneath that.

My boys live in my shed so I only use disposable beddings. My personal preference is megazorb or aubiose as the absorbent layer, and then it all gets covered with lots of hay.
Shavings are ok to use provided they are dust extracted.
