COVID-19 Who's had the vaccine?

It's fine for people who drive to go and get their vaccine, but until I can get mine locally I'll have to go without. I've been stuck at home walking round a dirty housing estate to get exercise for a year, avoiding people and feeling completely cut off. Now to get a vaccine I have to risk travelling on 2 buses to get to the centre and 2 to get back, that's too much risk. There's a centre 15 minutes walk from this house and I can't book it. It seems they are saving that one for people with ill health.

If anyone is asked to go to a mass centre please see if you can get help with transportation. For example Uber are offering £15 off journeys that start or end at set mass vaccination centres Uber helping to vaccinate the UK
I believe you can also be taken by a friend or relative in their car as long as you wear a facemask. As vaccination centre is classed as medical treatment.

If I lived closer I wouldn't hesitate to offer to take you myself. I hope you can get your vaccination soon.

My OH gets his vaccination on Saturday. Salford seem to be well ahead with their programme as he is only 52. My friend who is 58 and lives in a neighbouring borough still hasn't been invited for her vaccination.

My OH is joining me volunteering for SJA at the Etihad vaccination centre. He will be vaccinating people and can't wait to do his first shift.

I don't understand anyone not getting vaccinated unless there is a medical reason for this. Why would you want to risk catching a disease that may kill you or leave you with long lasting health issues.

I think that once people find that they can't go on holiday abroad without it, a lot will change their minds.
I agree, people will probably have to get a vaccination to go abroad for holidays as other countries may well stipulate it, and so they should 😊

As far as I know we aren't allowed to travel in cars with people outside our household, we don't know anyone here we could ask, family are hundreds of miles away. The £30 taxi fare is most of my food allowance for a week we can't afford it. To use Uber you have to use a smart phone! To be honest it feels like every way we turn now we are being discriminated against for being old and poor. Why should we have to travel anyway when there are people coming from other parts of the City using the centre that's just round the corner.

That’s such a shame and not very practical for you to travel so far away when there’s a centre around the corner, hope your doctor might be able to vaccinate you soon x

The same thing has happened to me. I live a 15 minute walk away from a leisure centre where they are doing the vaccinations but online the nearest place I can book is 10-15 miles away and I don't drive. I'm going to ring my GP tomorrow to explain the situation. Hopefully they can do something about it.

Thanks @YvonneBlue I don't think I've ever felt so lost and lonely as I do now. The lockdowns have made me realise how cut off and isolated I am here.

Oh, @piggieminder I am so sorry. This virus is absolutely awful. Things will get better soon!

There is an ambulance service in my state that is going around taking the vaccines that people didn't show up for and administering the vaccine to those that are housebound or don't have transportation. Does the NHS have anything set up like that?

Goodness, your state sounds well organised. No, we don't have anything like that. More places are giving the vaccine here all the time so will hopefully be able to get it locally soon.

I am so sorry that you are feeling discriminated against, i wish i could do something help. I do hope that you can get your vaccination soon.

Thanks. Not to worry. I'm just low at the moment and this seems to have been the final straw. Medicating 3 sick piggies at the moment, one on syringe feeds. I'm exhausted, broke and feeling sorry for myself! I think the vaccination debacle has just been the final straw at the moment. Onwards and upwards a bit of sunshine would help!

big hugs. I got worn out after medicating one sick piggie around the clock I can’t imagine 3! Hope you and your piggies start to feel better soon

I wish Leicestershire would catch up!I live in an area which has the highest rates of infection per head of population in England,I've not heard anything regarding vaccine despite being over 50....something!

Just seen on the news there’s a shortage of vaccine in Nottingham and Leicester, which is why I can’t get an appointment anywhere! Apparently it should be resolved in 10 days - madness!

Oh that's odd. I know of plenty of people who have been just this week for the vaccine. My mum and a couple of her friends are having their second dose next week. Will feel a lot safer once she has that protection

If you try to book now there are no appointments anywhere. I know what you mean about having parents with both doses. Mine are in their 80s and their drs insisted on sticking to the three week rule so mum and dad were fully covered early on. It does give you some peace of mind, especially when they are so far away!

3 of my 6 boys (3 pairs) are black Abyssian cross breeds. On a couple of occasions I have almost put an unmatched pair in the same cage oopsy 😱.

If It's any help at all, I've seen those that would usually be anti-vaxer give in to this vaccine. Those that've had the 'Oxford' jab have felt a bit rough for a few days, but have turned out well.
