I thought we had been told that all over 50's would get their jabs by Easter?
I hope the Swiss are rolling out the vaccine with their usual famous efficiency, and you get it soon.So excited - I was finally able to sign up for mine!
No appointment yet, but at least I am on the waiting list.
Sadly the Swiss handling of the whole Covid affair has been an absolute debacle, and the vaccine roll out is no different.I hope the Swiss are rolling out the vaccine with their usual famous efficiency, and you get it soon.
I guess your daughter is still at home, not been able to return to her school in the UK?
Sadly the Swiss handling of the whole Covid affair has been an absolute debacle, and the vaccine roll out is no different.
Every Canton (a bit like counties in the UK) is allowed to manage their own vaccine distribution, and are given vaccines in relation to the size of the population.
So in some of the larger more urban areas they have set up centres in hospitals, etc and brilliant online tools for people to register.
In other Cantons there are no defined centres, no real plan of attack, and the internet support to manage it is totally lacking. There is no one online system being used across the country - every area has to develop their own.
It's the same with rules for school (again all decided by individual Cantons). Some schools are fully open and 5 kms up the road a school for the same age children is closed or partially open. Some schools have compulsory mask rules and some don't.
It's a nightmare tbh, and so far very few vaccines have been given, and no one knows the real numbers because the Cantons don't have to share them.
My daughter is still at home here, but honestly it will be a relief when she can go back to her school in the UK where they have testing and mask rules clearly in place, and a country that is at least trying to vaccinate it's population in some form of order.
For that the UK is streets ahead of Switzerland.
I know - I am as shocked as you! This will come as such a surprise to those of us who believed that Switzerland would deal with this with their legendary efficiency. Who’d credit that a government led by Boris would actually be doing better than the Swiss?
Hope so but .........I thought we had been told that all over 50's would get their jabs by Easter?
I can’t even imagine. I’m sending lots of love. XMy sister just rang me. The lovely people at the home are doing all they can to keep Mum comfortable. Mum is still on oxygen and struggling to breath. It's very surreal not being able to go and see her.
Holding you in my heartMy sister just rang me. The lovely people at the home are doing all they can to keep Mum comfortable. Mum is still on oxygen and struggling to breath. It's very surreal not being able to go and see her.

The lovely people at the home are doing all they can to keep Mum comfortable. Mum is still on oxygen and struggling to breath. It's very surreal not being able to go and see her.
Sending you a virtual hug .. must be so hard xxMy sister just rang me. The lovely people at the home are doing all they can to keep Mum comfortable. Mum is still on oxygen and struggling to breath. It's very surreal not being able to go and see her.
It’s just as important as doing the jabs. Keeping it all running smoothly! Thanks for volunteering.I am volunteering next week as a vaccination steward... sadly they won't let me jab people ... its more of a sit here, park here exit here role but happy to help out!
That's right. They will be starting to vaccinate the over 80s where I live from thursday. According to the local radio most of the vaccine being delivered here is the -70 storage one so I don't know when the Oxford one will be available for home visits. A lot of people move here when they retire so the population is top heavy, I expect there are quite a few who are housebound and having to wait. Obviously within every age group someone has to be last but it is a worry.I heard that the old bods who are housebound can only have the jab that doesn't have to be stored at -70 because of the trouble with transporting it at such a low temperature.
Have not been setting my alarm for a few months lol! It was a bit of a shock, had to have a small granny nap after my lunch6.30am? I've already been up 2 and a half hours when I'm on early duty.![]()
