You’ve been given great advise above. Regarding the home check, I doubt they would do it in person at the moment. First thing you need to do is to email the rescues and let them know that you’re looking to adopt piggies. They will also be better placed to suggest those that may be suitable for your household.
Good luck with the search and do post photos when you finally get them. Doing research first is the best start to having pets, especially ones as complex (and expensive) as guinea pigs. Start that vet fund now as well, they’re classed as exotic pets and costs can run up.
PS character compatibility, as mentioned above, is the most important thing. Boars have a really bad reputation but that’s probably down to bad matching/bonding. There are plenty of members on here who have/had boar pairs that get on well. I’m one of them, and my boars have a good relationship.
