I want to thank everyone who helped me and gave me advice on how to build a suitable DIY guinea pig cage!
Our family of three went from 120cm x 80cm to this huge guinea pig paradise. There are three floors which are all connected via fluffy ramps. Each floor is 190cm x 65cm! It was made to fit exactly into the space we have in our flat. We got rid of the TV, but we don't watch it anyway (and who needs TV when you can watch piggies from your couch?) We still need to make better hideys, tunnels and platforms to put inside, but we have managed to provide a nice environment with their old floortime toys for the time. They love platforms, so we will put a few in later - it is difficult to sync our free days with BF, we are both healthcare workers and times are tough now. (And yes, we also have cats, but the piggies are 100% safe and they love chilling together through the safe walls. Both piggies and cats sniff each other a lot and the pigs even get zoomies after sniffing the cats. They don't hide from them and feel safe inside their own cage-space.)
