David Piggie Lover
Senior Guinea Pig
That was nice of them.

And arthiritis ofcourseI was about to say, you are brave saying that! I miss my old boy sky, he never got sick until age 7. And then when he did it was arthirits which is just a consultation fee and some loxicom, and then cancer, again just a consultation fee. Not about the money tho. But he was one cheap pig to have. Hope your two boys are the same expcept for cancer of course
Yea it wasn't cat and rabbit either. It was an out of hours vet down the roadThat was nice of them.![]()
Ask them to email you a full receipt for what you paid for.I feel a bit shocked by the bill. I don't mind sharing the details.
£348. Has left me feeling like it's wrong or its a emergency fee. There is a 32ml loxicom and an xray in this price. So roughly the flush has cost around £220. A full spay and a scan cost alot less.
Didn't get a breakdown list
I think I might.Ask them to email you a full receipt for what you paid for.
As a registered charity, we get veterinary medicines at zero percent VATI think registered charities should be able to avoid paying or reclaim the 15% VAT but even so, vet bills can be very expensive!
That's decent. I just seen a bottle of 32ml loxicom for dogs online for about £7.As a registered charity, we get veterinary medicines at zero percent VAT
I buy Metacam from Vet UK. You need a veterinary prescription. That's decent. I just seen a bottle of 32ml loxicom for dogs online for about £7.
I used to have pigs rescued from a school, I used to get all consultations free. But the vets were absolute crud with guineas
O really. OK, vets bump the price of massivelyI buy Metacam from Vet UK. You need a veterinary prescription.
Why did they never tell me this when I had a boar needing long term pain killer. Sod my life lol. That's something I didn't know existed and isn't mentioned on here anywhere ive seen beforeI buy a prescription from my vet for £10 (prices vary depending on the vets) then I buy Christian's Metacam from Animed.
That's really good of him. Anyway the amount of business you must give that place!.I think we pay £19 for a prescription, but Simon puts some repeats on it too! We are a charity though!
I believe the xray at Cat & Rabbit is around £150 or less. Our past piggies was charged around like that (that's multiple view though). The anaesthetic would take up the cost too. The big bottle of Loxicom is around £30 I think. So that would mean the flush would be around £100-£150. We usually ask for a receipt for big amount charges so we would know how much the procedure is.I feel a bit shocked by the bill. I don't mind sharing the details.

I'm going to ask for a breakdown of the bill like this and check to see if they done another consultation because they shouldn't have, It was for the same problem. Or if they did it should be reduced. Wouldn't make much difference though.I found Bunny's receipt in the past. She was my last piggy that had stones, sludge and cystitis issue. Here's a copy when she had a flush. Take note that this was in 2018.

It’s hurts the pocket, but you’ve done it for Dot and she’s worth every penny, bless her!I feel a bit shocked by the bill. I don't mind sharing the details.

There's a gap in the market. A type of NHS for pet health. But we all know exotics wouldn't get includedIt’s hurts the pocket, but you’ve done it for Dot and she’s worth every penny, bless her!
I have always thought the Cat and Rabbit Clinic was so much cheaper than other vets I won’t mention down here, but we haven’t got NHS for pets and it’s basically “private medicine“ prices we are paying.
This is why it’s so important for us all to supporter rescues, especially at this time because they can’t fundraise atm x
I have no problem with the cost of veterinary treatment, as you are paying for that vet's knowledge. It's when the vet hasn't got that knowledge, but still takes your money, that I have a BIG problem. There's a gap in the market. A type of NHS for pet health. I don't either, I admit I was caught out by my expectations being lower yesterday with the cost. I based it on how much a full spay and scan was. My fault, yea I hate it when vets charge and don't have the foggiest what they have to doI have no problem with the cost of veterinary treatment, as you are paying for that vet's knowledge. Neutering is highly subsidised! You can always ask for a estimate of costs before having a procedure done.I don't either, I admit I was caught out by my expectations being lower yesterday with the cost. Yea il ask for a chat after her eye ha seen dealt with. How unlucky is this, a hay poke when I really did not want to stress her bladder anymore. Is hay poke easy to clear up with the droplets? That is normal, for the first few hours, and you will notice it get less as the time goes on. Mention it to Simon when she goes in for her appointment later, if it is still significant.
Yea I should have, but I felt bad, especially cause vets are open during this covid 19Neutering is highly subsidised! You can always ask for a estimate of costs before having a procedure done.
