I'm already planning my own lawn now. I'm getting the loppers out tomorrow, ridding the bushes, rake the weeds out and sow some grass seed.

Does anyone know if I'm OK to use grass seed that's inside bird seed mix?

BTW I don't have a proper garden, but do have a decent bit of land that's mine on the deeds in front of my house that no one else will access

I don't think you would get very good grass from bird seed mix, you'll have all sorts of strange weeds and plants sprouting all over the place if under the bird table at my old house was anything to go by. I would get a box of grass seed next time you are food shopping, you can get it in the supermarket. I think our lawns originally came from ASDA.

Haha na, il pick the grass seeds out 😊

Think you’ll struggle to pick the right ones out tbh, better just waiting and buying a bag really! :))
From what he said, I don't think it will pass. I guess I'll see what happens down the line. Hopefully if it causes problems again, itl be reacheable 👍 maybe if she has a good run around every day it could pass. It'd be nice
It’s often because they can be stubborn and get stuck or vets can’t reach them at that time ‘nicely’, hers should pass out, just not today with Simon!
Glad she’s ok and her man’s looking after her x

Id love it if it did. I think I'd hold it up in the air like simba on pride Rock

I do have a problem with waiting, when I get an idea I have to do it now. Il go B and m when the next essential runs out 👍

Haha yeah I guessed you were eager! This is my garden atm as neighbours with their dog have started letting the dog pee and poo everywhere in my shared one again! Just as the nice dandelions were giving piggles so much enjoyment! 😡

Lettuce doing pretty well, planted a tray first to see how it did, a bit dark today on pic! But got a bit of spinach poking it’s little head out now :) Maybe you could give that a go?:)

I might give it a go, make sure you don't get lost in that garden though 😜. Thanks for the uploads 👍

Glad to hear the news about Dot.
She will soon forgive you when she’s recovered.

You’re having a rough time at the moment - holding you in my heart

I’m so pleased to hear Dot is back home again after her flush. It sounds like it was very needed for her. But I am sure that although she’s uncomfy now, she will feel better without all that sludge. Hope she has a good night (you, too).

Thank you very much also 👍🙂

I feel a bit shocked by the bill. I don't mind sharing the details.

£348 😱. Has left me feeling like it's wrong or its a emergency fee. There is a 32ml loxicom and an xray in this price. So roughly the flush has cost around £220. A full spay and a scan cost alot less.

Didn't get a breakdown list

Just thinking, any rescues that use the vets and get an annual bill or half year bill might have a shock when there's load sof emergency fees there. Unless there's some sort of deal on them. I don't know

Could be that the spay was subsidised, I think at many vets any sort of neutering or spaying op is done cheaper under some scheme designed to prevent unwanted breeding?
Blodwen's dental under anaesthetic and Tallulah's abscess op both cost over £200, almost £300 for Blod with meds, £350 adding in her ringworm treatment and tests... and we paid £180 for an xray under buprenorphine sedation plus some meds when Puggle had acute bloat... and I know our vet charges very reasonable prices generally, only £22 for a consultation!
Sorry if this has hit you hard financially @SkyPipDotBernie especially at the moment when many people have job uncertainty x

I know it seems a lot and you may like to question it but here it would have been £500 plus.

Neutering is definitely subsidised/fixed fee. Sadly anything else involving general anaesthetic is usually very expensive. And believe me, in the rescue we always shudder at the thought of the bill. It only takes one resident needing an operation to wipe out our fundraising Kitty.

I think registered charities should be able to avoid paying or reclaim the 15% VAT but even so, vet bills can be very expensive!

Yea bernies neuter was around £60. Really good price. Included post op check

Theo's neuter was also around £60 and in almost 2 years he's never needed the vet for anything else except a routine health check and a nail trim and on the first occasion he met Blodwen before I trimmed her bum skirts, a £9.50 vet nurse appointment to untangle some fur from his boy bits :) he's our least expensive free ads piggy, in fact him and Ollie boar have never been ill or injured at all while the girls have cost me a fortune (touch wood and sod's law they are both now going to get haypoke while I type this lol I hope not!) :)

I was about to say, you are brave saying that! I miss my old boy sky, he never got sick until age 7. And then when he did it was arthirits which is just a consultation fee and some loxicom, and then cancer, again just a consultation fee. Not about the money tho. But he was one cheap pig to have. Hope your two boys are the same expcept for cancer of course

I've been amazed by prices some vets charge. Important to have a piggie fund to help. I've been stunned couple of times.
Lost a piggie Heidi on way to having a op to stop a bleed . . So sad and the bill was £279. I objected to operating cost as she never got to the table . . . I did get some knocked off.

Yea I def wouldn't pay the op cost for that. I suppose she took a space up by being booked in but it wasn't your fault. I took one our old gerbils to be pts last year, he died being checked over on the table, and the vet said because you are one of the only people I see care so much for a small animal, we won't charge you.
