Guinea Pig Fell

I'll keep watching her teeth. Any tips?

Not really. I only knew because mine were on fleece at the time and I found the tooth on the floor of the cage. As long as it doesn't affect her picking up food etc you should be fine

I checked her teeth again and gently tried to see if they were loose and yes, they seem to be a bit far apart from each other and wiggle a bit. I compared them to Nymeria's teeth and Bubbles does seem to have her teeth a bit loose

You are just going to have to let it run its course. One or more of the teeth may come out, just make sure you check her a few times a day and if they do fall out just observe her to make sure she can eat properly. It doesn't take too long for the teeth to grow back to a normal length

Thank you. I'll keep everyone posted.

She drinks and licked the vitamin c drops off my fingers. I saw her eating veggies today and she ate her hay. I tried hand feeding her veggies right now and she doesn't want them. I'm not sure if it's because of the teeth or if she's just tired of the veggies. Any tips? Should I mash them up and give them to her? She just ate some hay so I'm not sure...

If she is eating by herself then give her some space. She'll be shaken at the very least but it doesn't sound like you need to supplement her feed unless she is not eating enough

I am sure nothing bad has happened this time and you can thank all the gods.
Also my (crazy) sow fell jumping down from my arms to the floor and she got a little red sign on her mouth, but, like your piggie, she went on eating and living as usual. I am sure your piggie landed on the floor in the right way.
Anyway I am very very sorry for your situation because now your piggie is healthy and young, but sooner or later he will have some issue and will need a vet. I wonder if you already knew the fact that you are not responsible of ANYTHING before buying this piggie: didn't you know that your parents don't want to have anything to do with expensive bills from exotic vets? It would be a great sufference for you if your piggie would need a vet and the adults would not allow. Is it nice to live with this worry? I would prefer living pet free.
I think you should stop spending even a penny from now on and have soon some savings for being able to go to the vet calling even a taxi. I am talking of the future of course, because the eternal life and eternal health are something piggies and humans cannot have.

I dont think you understood very well. I do get my piggies to vet. A LOT. The moment they started sneezing I took them The reason why I couldn't take her to the vet was because one: we're on holidays; two: my father wasn't listening to me and made a horrible scene after I asked him and three: Our car broke down and hasnt been repaired.
My father has calmed down now and said that should any problem arrive we would take her to the vet immediately.
Money is not an issue here. The only issue was my father screaming and not understanding because of the stress of the trip the other day.
I really don't appreciate the condescending tone your reply has. I'm doing my best for my piggies. And no I would not want to live pet free. I'm extremely responsible when it comes to my piggies due to being a very worried person, especially when it comes to health.

I mean. I guess this kind of is more of a personality thing rather than her being sick or hurt. She hasn't been eating from my hand for a while now. Even before the fall. I kind of had to put the food in her mouth to see if she'd eat it. She eats it when she wants it. Very strong personality Miss Bubbles has.

Please reconsider your reply . I think you have misinterpreted this member's post . As you can tell from the username , RomeItaly is not a UK member and English is not their 1st language. RomeItaly has tried to help you and provide constructive advice and I think you have misinterpreted how it is worded. It is up to you whether you take this advice or not - but this member was not being condescending .

I am delighted to hear that your Father has said he will take your Guinea Pig to a vet if it becomes unwell.

@WinterAddams please remember that this is a public forum. When you post for advice/comments on a public forum you will get a variety of responses - not all of them will say what you want to hear at that moment in time. We have members from all round the world. Sometimes the nuances of the written word can lose something in translation. Please bear that in mind.

responsible? you cannot take any decision, this is a fact; and you depend on adults' decision. I am not saying you are a bad owner, but the car broken is an excuse and if you had fallen down on the floor probably an adult would have taken you to the hospital even with the car broken.
And of course my english is bad...

They will take her to the vet if something happens. The only reason we didnt was because my dad was refusing. God you really don't understand.
She's doing fine. If she had shown any signs of being hurt we would have taken her to the vet right away.

The reason why we didn't was because he was very stressed out because of the car and the trip and he couldn't see straight. I just dont appreaciate it when someone judges me as bad owner when I'm the complete opposite.

I'm sorry you feel this way . I have tried to explain to you how things can be mis - interpreted when reading a written post . No one on this forum is trying to criticise you .

As you still feel that someone is calling you a bad owner, can you please press the report button on the post (s) where this has been said and this will alert a staff member to investigate.

I think I understand why Winter Adams was feeling a bit defensive after reading the things Rome Italy was saying, because I too read their reply and took it as a bit of a offence reply.
But obviously things can be misunderstood in language barriers.

I think Rome Italy also needs to think about how the things They are saying might make people feel on this forum,
Winter Adams was understandably upset that her Guinea Pig might be hurt and that her dad had dropped her without seeming too concerned for her health,
But that doesn't mean that WinterAdams isn't able to look after her Guinea Pig and that she shouldn't have pets in the future because we don't know the individual situation,

I think Winter Adams was mainly looking for support and advice on what to look for as possible injury but has been made to feel like she isn't a good enough Guinea Pig owner for something out of her control, (her dad's reaction to being asked to go to the vets)

I think many of us would be understandably upset at being made to feel this way,
Not just Winter Adams

Maybe we should all take a lesson from this :)

It's not necessary. I probably just interpreted it wrong because of the stress.
I've been very worried about Miss Bubbles... I think her teeth are going to fall.
I don't think she has any other physical problem or is in pain. She eats, runs just fine, no limp, no head tilt, nothing. Only thing I notice is that when she chews her teeth make that noise like when your baby teeth are wiggling before falling.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Bubbles is doing fine besides her teeth being a bit loose. Should any other physical issue arrive my father has said that we will find a way to taker to the vet.
Do you know what signs I should look for to know if she's in pain?
She runs around chutting, hides, eats, drinks and popcorns. Only thing is the squeaks she does when I cuddle her but I might just be allucinating from being worried because she's always made that noise. I'm just scared that it's whimpering but it doesn't sound like she's in pain.

Aw poor piggy bless her. At least she seems her normal self which is good!
We had a piggy at the rescue called Gizmo who had a fall. The next day, his bottom teeth were on the vet bed in his cage!
He managed hay and nuggets just fine, and could still drink from his bottle, we just had to shop his veg up into tiny pieces for a week or so haha
It's good that your dad is willing to go to the vets in the future, so you haven't got to worry about that, must be a weight off your mind! It sounds like you really care deeply about your pigbabies.
Just keep an eye on her and give her lots of love ❤️ xx

I'm doing that and hoping my baby gets better. Thank you for the support ❤

Her two front teeth broke off. Any ideas on what to do?

Please see comments already given above. you may need to chop veggies and mush pellets if she is unable to eat for herself.

@WinterAddams She may struggle trying to eat herself before they grow back.

When they are missing teeth I chop up their veg for them. I do a combination of small cubes of veg and long thin strands. Then they can try to pick them up.

It would be helpful to her too if you hand feed her for a while. She won't need syringe feeding but you can hand her pieces of veg and food. They need their teeth to be able to pick up the food so without them they struggle to get the food into their mouth.

Keep an eye on her teeth. You should see them coming back through within a week. If there is no sign or her mouth seems red or swollen she'll need a vet visit as she could have internal damage, or have an infection.

Please weigh her regularly, at the same time each day. You will be able to see if she's eating enough from her weight.

I would take to vet even with no sign of injury! I don't drive and have very little money but I take them straight to vets if there's a problem :) have u asked your parents if maybe you could get insurance for your little one ? I've got insurance for all 3 of mine, it's not cheap but each are covered £2000 in vet bills if anything happens. Maybe you could use pocket money or something to get this, then you know if anything similar happened you would be covered x

I highly doubt they'd let me... We will go to the vet if anything arrives because we're on holidays and we can't go to the same vet who knows them and would probably not even charge us anything. She seems totally fine and I talked to the vet and she said that if she is running and eating then she is fine. The poor baby tries to bite us like she does a lot but can't cause she doesnt have front teeth... Bubbles is so cute.

We hand feed her and give her her veggies shredded and she eats them all.
Sadly I don't think we can weigh her because we're on holidays and don't have any scale...

One of our guinea pigs snapped off their two top teeth a while ago.
We found cutting her fresh food into long thin strips with a vegetable peeler worked well.
Plus we gave her time away from her cage mates to eat, so she didn't miss out because she was being a bit slow. I wasn't sure if your piggy lives alone of with friends.
Ruby recovered just fine, and we kept a close eye on the new teeth as they came in and were lucky that they came in perfectly in alignment.
