I have a guinea pig that had "crusty" hair on her nose bridge. I ignored it because that was the only spot on her and the rest of her was nice and soft. I was petting her today while she was in her cage and I noticed that her back was now the same "crusty" texture. There probably is a better was of describing it other than crusty but couldn't think of another word. It feels like she has actual crusty stuff in her fur. I tried looking it up but all I could find was stuff about them having crusty eye boogers. Should I be worried?

Hi! It would help if you posted a picture on here, so we can have a look. Your desciption is too vague to allow any of us more than to just guess. How To Post Photos

My guess, from the location it has started off, would be to have your guinea pig seen for fungal; it builds up crusty exudations in the affected places. I would however not recommend to treat on spec, as you can easily do more harm than good.
PS: Both these links contain pictures of fungal infection.

I will see if I can get a picture up. I don't currently have any pictures on my computer so it might take a little bit.

2016-03-21 10.51.23.jpg You can kind of see the white "crusty" stuff in the black. It isn't as far down the back ad I thought it was. It stops at about the end of the black spot on the right.

Are the hairs crusty or is the skin crusty? I must admit that I can't really see anything on your picture.

I think it is stuff in the hair. It definitely isn't the skin. If it is something it isn't bad yet so it is hard to get a picture where you can see it. On the right it looks like a small bit of white hair (kind of) is mixed in with the black. I think that is what is making her hair feel weird (it is not hair).
