Just caught up with this thread. What a time you and your piggy have been having! Have you got a vet appointment soon?

Not until monday the 30th. I'm in a tough situation. To be fair dot is looking good, despite her problem.little bit fluffed up.
When i give cc and put her back in her cage she will nibble hay,but then give up and go in her hidey house. I asked the vet can we stop the zythromax beacause her appetite had gone whilst on it.

But now it has gone anyway,so dont know wether to start it again but on the lower dose. Her symptoms mostly match cystitis.but my vet felt a lump just above her vagina area. So i dont know until the xray.

Basicly everything will get confirmed on monday 30th july when my guinea pig specialists are back from holiday

Just caught up with Dot's adventures! It sounds like you're doing everything you can, don't give up! Hopefully you'll be prescribed a different antibiotic for Dot so she will get her appetite back. Bless her, she's been through the wars hasn't she?! She's so cute. Keep going with the syringe feeds! Good luck xx

Jus a thought. I do have baytril.in date in my cupboard. But probably not enough for a full course.but if i holds her illness off a bit its something. And i know she tolerates baytril

I'm thinking about putting dot back on zythromax. She isnt eating anyway. Only way is up i guess.

I'm a bit confused by how much you reduced the Zithromax dose. Simon will suggest splitting the dose into a morning and evening dose, rather than just once a day, if the piggy isn't tolerating it too well, but ultimately the prescribed dose needs to be given for the medication to work.

well i called the vets they said to me . Must have been a nurse. Because simon and kim are on holiday. She said half the dose and do once a day . I will start the morning and night dose tomorrow . Because i started it this evening at 7. So il do 7 am tomorrow and 7pm. And carry on. Then if u do look after her il give you the meds. The zythromax started on 0.5 twice a day . So when i reduced it i put it down to 0.25 once a day. But then her appetite went. So i stopped it and started eating again. But now isnt anyway. So i have started it again

Somewhow dot isnt dropping weight, to look at her you wouldnt know shes sick. This is a first for me

Why exactly do guinea pigs go off food when they are sick. I find it strange

Dot has started eating for herself a bit. I woke up to find nuggets been eaten and her begging for veg and jumping to her fresh morning hay. Shes still in discomfort down below. But I'm reliefed shes picked up. Probably is the zythromax its day 4 of it
