How strange. Dot has been looking so big in her abdomon area for atleast 3 to 4 days.It wasnt bloat because she was pooing fine. Just picked her up to feed her now, and shes just deflated back to size whilst i have been asleep for 2 hours. And her appetite has gone up

Well i dropped dot off at 9am for the xray. I pray shes got something thats curable, and that she makes it through anasthetic

It can be an anxious time waiting! Fingers very firmly crossed it's nothing serious!
She hasnt got any stones.that all clear. Its something swelling in the bladder .I'm going to speak to simon properly when i pick her up. So shes not having an op yet. Shes carrying on with meds. And she could get better. Simon said alot of the swelling has gone down

That's good news! Hopefully it will resolve with meds.

I think it will. I'm glad you upped her zythromax to the 0.5 for her. I should have done it all along. I have a good feeling it will resolve itself
I do too and she appeared to be tolerating it well. Make sure you give the 0.5 ml twice a day. Zithromax is an amazing antibiotic and has saved the lives of so many of our piggies here at TEAS.

Thanks so much. I have been researching information on here for about 5 years . Before i was a member. I recognise all of your names from then.

Dot has a growth in her bladder wall. Simon doesnt know what it is and says its really strange. We have been told to see how shes goes and if she gets worse then do an operation. I have her back home now. Shes really scared and huddled up. So no further really and £265 down. But atleast it has ruled stuff out

Poor Dot - this must be quite worrying for you.
I'm sure that with your love and care she will get over the trauma of today and then we'll see how things work out.

Rooting for you all

Syringe feed her little and often. Did you get more Zithromax?
No he didnt seem to say have more. Just finish off this bottle. Yea will do. I know they are the best vets and all that. But i have never had any luck going there. Its weird. All my pigs so far have never been cured there

I'm not bad mouthin cat and rabbit care clinic. Its just my run of bad luck with guinea pigs

Try not to lose heart. It does sound like Dot has something more unusual, but keep going with the antibiotic and see how she goes. Most of the guinea pigs we have here at TEAS, were pretty much written off before coming here. Simon and Kim have saved or extended the life of so many of our residents.

I wish i could work with guinea pigs or any small animals . I have lost heart at the moment. But give me a fresh head tomorrow and il be back on it. I have been syringing dot cc still. I'm worried about what il do if she needs syringe feeding for life. Cuz i sometimescwork long hours

Syringe feeding is enough to get anybody down. It just feels like it goes on forever even if it is just a few days! Are you feeding her day and night? I missed the 3amfeed with Christian but he had his 11pm and 5am feeds.

She was eating fairly well while she was here. I topped her up with syringe food but generally she was able to eat enough to keep herself ticking over. I think you need to give the Zithromax a good chance, giving it at the correct amount. If you need more, just phone the practice and ask that they put more up for you to collect. Give this in addition to the Loxicom too.

Yea i am doing the proper zythromax dose 0.5 twice daily and molocicom 0.25 twice daily. Yea she was eating good at urs. It mite be that you didnt put a hidey in her cage. Shes just hiding away for me at the moment.but that could be cuz shes scared at the moment.
