Hi all. So I have a lot of experience with Sows but I have never owned a Boar before. So I recently got 2 boars and it’s obvious which one is the dominate pig. But I am new to the world of owning boars and have noticed a vast difference in behaviour from owning sows.
Looking for some general advice on how to handle Boar behaviour in regards to dominance and ‘boar glue’ which has happened a few times. And anything I should be looking out for etc.
thanks 😊

I have a boar pair.
Provided it’s just dominance, then you don’t need to do anything - leave them to it!
What is important is that they have a lot of space - a boar pair needs more room than a sow pair. A cage/hutch of 6ft x 2ft is important for two boars. Too small of a home and it can cause tensions.
It’s also important that you handle and deal with the dominant piggy first - you must respect their hierarchy. Only use open ended hideys (nothing enclosed) and it can also help if they are particularly territorial, to leave some soiled bedding in their cage on clean out day so that it still smells of them.
boar glue - it’s usually dried solid by the time you find it! If you can wipe it off, then do so, but otherwise it usually has to be either cut out or left until the hair grows and you can cut it more easily
