Possible Broken Leg.

:help:I could use some help. I'm afraid Kiko's leg might be broken or injured. She limps everywhere and doesn't run, popcorn, anything. Peanut follows her everywhere and gives her a good nudge when Kiko plops down. Peanut is trying her best to help her. My mother was trying to check out Kiko's leg and Peanut bit her, trying to protect Kiko.
I know everyone's first suggestion is to bring her to a vet. But I can't. My mother doesn't believe that cavies are... well... 'good enough' to go to the vet. We don't have a small animal vet around here at all and my mum refuses to bring her to one. I don't know what to do.
I don't know how her leg was injured. They have a sturdy surface, fleece bedding, and it's one level so there is no way she could hurt it on a ramp. :no:
She still eats but I might have to start syringe feeding her if she doesn't want to move.
Is there anything at all I can do for her at home... or am I going to have to give up my guinea pigs to someone who can take her to a vet. Because I'm willing to do anything I can for them to be healthy. Even if it means giving up the thing I love most and that keeps me going in life to do it. I love these my furbabies and I want the best for them. :ple::(:soz:
 
Sending Kiko lots of healing vibes, she really needs to see a vet for some pain killers. Maybe with gentle persuasion your Mum will come round. I am so sorry you are in this difficult position.

I know, I'm trying. She says she can't afford it because an x-ray alone is like $300 alone. I'm really worried. I know she has to be in pain, but she won't show it.
 
Please gently lift Kiko out. Then test her whether she is able to put a bit of weight on her leg or not at all if you place the leg on a finger of yours.A good indicator is also whether she is screaming when being touched on the painful part or not.
In the second case, her leg is broken and she should see a vet. In the first case, it is just a bad sprain that should right itself within a few days to a few weeks. The sprain can be anywhere from the hip/shoulder joint downward and may not be located in the lower leg or foot. A painkiller/anti-inflammatory will certainly help in either case.

Can you please tell us whether it is a back leg (which acts as spring) or the weight bearing front leg, which makes any movement much more difficult when trying to get around without putting too much weight on it.

Sprains are not at all uncommon in young guinea pigs. All it takes is one bad landing after a popcorn or jump.
 
It's her front left leg. She can put some weight on. It doesn't seem to hurt her that bad, but I know they hide things very well.

Hi! Take a DEEP breath. She does NOT have a broken leg. Limping is much worse with a sprained front leg than with a sprained back leg. Kiko will recover even without a vet visit.

But it would be good if you could save up enough money for a vet consultation and for paying for a live saving antibiotic or pain relief. Or to be allowed euthanasia in order to not having a beloved pet die miserably if that is your only option left.

Like I said in a previous post, depending on the severity and how lively she is (she may aggravate the sprain from time to time), between several days to several weeks.
