I have some spelt seed that I originally bought to use as ground cover. I believe it's an older type of wheat. Would it be okay to feed some to my three guinea pigs? I would of course cut it before it went to seed.

Unfortunately, seeds usually aren’t healthy for guinea pigs.

A few places sell spelt seed treats for guinea pigs, but I don’t think they should be fed.

Wheat and other grains shouldn't be fed as piggies struggle to digest them. If you want to go for growing a treat for your piggy try grass or lettuce instead

If you mean actually growing the seeds into grass then yes, spelt is fine :) ours love spelt grass hay.
