Guinea Slave
Adult Guinea Pig
Now she is tucking into lettuce and looking pleased with herself. Breathing still bad but I would say slower and marginally improved. She is fighting all the way.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Welcome to this fab forum do you have other guineas?Hope everything is ok. My pig also got sick Sunday/bank holiday Monday, so typical. Had to call the emergency vet but sadly she didn't make it. Good luck
Come on piggy, keep fighting. Were still here with you Hun. Tag Helen if your worried and need advice she will pick her tags up ASAP (as she's lovely) so she wont mind if you keep tagging her I'm sure xNow she is tucking into lettuce and looking pleased with herself. It is pneumonia :-( he does not think she will last the night. He has injected her with frusemide (not sure why he had to inject her) he Wanted to X-ray but only does them under anaesthetic so we agreed it was not sensible. He listened to her chest and you cannot hear her heart well on one side which has changed from this morning. I have her booked with my vet tomorrow afternoon if she lasts. Ray of hope is that we came home and she is eating dandelion which she did not want earlier.
Please send loads of healing vibes, I am so desperately worried. She is such is the sweetest and friendliest of my herd. She is very much a mummies girl and I could not bear to lose her.
What a lovely way to spend your week off (I couldent think of a better brake myself) xOh poor poor boy, that's so sad. Rip little fella. X
She is fighting it you can tell. She was pretty fit and healthy, so strong, so hopefully that will help her. She is nearly four so has age and strength on her side, as opposed to poor toffee. I think it will be a long night though and I still think it's very much 50/50. Thank goodness I have this week off.
Great your appointment is early. The laboured breathing will continue for a while as it will take some time for the fluid to go and even then she may need to stay on a maintenance dose for a while.
Just get as much water in as you can but I know it is difficult with her breathing being so bad. If you can get any syringe food into her too that would help, but it would need to be little and often and with nothing bigger than a 1ml syringe.
Can she eat cucumber? If so I would try her with that.
Poor angel, if she is anything like Buzz was she will be full of gunk in her throat, he was reaching a lot when he had it. See what the vet says later, if she is getting worse though then I would maybe speak to the vet about making the decision for her. We had to do that with Buzz the second time he had it. They end up drowning in fluid otherwise. Sorry to have to say that, she may surprise you though so see what the next few hours bring.
In answer to your earlier questions, I would keep her inside in the warm and @Poppy'sMum is right when she says it is contagious so she should not go near her friends.
Bless her, going to send you my work email in case you need to ask anything this afternoon. I usually check the forum before leaving work but am finishing slightly early today as have the vets (just a heart med review).
