One of my guineapigs keeps eating the coroplast his cage base is made of, its mostly for attention i try ignore him but if i do the more he eats. Ive covered most of the plastic woth either fleece or toys to stop hom eating ir but it doesnt work. He has 2 cage mates, both girls (hes neautered) one of the girls also eats Any thing in sight. She has eaten fabric from soft toys so cant use them, she eats the other guineapigs fur aswel . Can anyone help?!

The cage os massive its bigger than my double bed, so they arent lacking space amd stuff to do,

They have soo many differemt toys and chew textures of wooden and hay toys, theu dont go near toys and would rather eat the coroplast than the toys.

They get veg and plenty of hay, they love food amd get many forages to try out, different hays and such.

I know some people have used the slide binder things that you use to make a bunch of papers into a booklet. You can slide them over the top of the coroplast. You could also try providing things to keep them busy, like cardboard tubes with hay and treats inside (cut so they don't get stuck) or cardboard boxes they can run through or forage in. This will not only distract them but give them something else to chew. Finally, some pigs are just chewers and like to chew things, but whenever any of mine have had any teeth issues, they tend to gnaw on things more. Maybe have a quick check that all looks as it should.

Hi!

Can you clip or peg the fleece to the edges to cover the coroplast up?
Piggies can be plastic addicts.

Tried cliping the fleece on, cant do it for the whole cage tho so he eats the rest x( hes a wee terror!

Tried those binder things but they are relly difficult to get onto the plastic, as hes chewed the plastic so much the binders just kinda pop off , theres cardboard tunnels and boxes in their cage most of the tome theu dont seem to chew on it much only one of my girls seems to enjoy it, they love loo roll tubes tho , hes been to the vet many times for other reasons (bladder) and they have checked his teeth also, i regularly check theres nothing stuck in the front ones aswel, no other sort of chewing problems related to food he eats like a horse

Perhaps you could find some more scraps of fleece or towels perhaps? Fold one edge over the plastic and tuck the other edge under the fleece, weigh it down with something like a bowl or a tunnel.

Ill give it a try, the cage is 4x4
Half os bedding amd half os fleece je mainly chews the fleece side , ive managed to put one of the sliding binders on the other side where there wasnt much chewed yet
