Hi I need some advice.
Our two boys do not seem to be getting on at the moment, they are constantly arguing with eachother. The only time they don’t seem to argue is when they are eating.
They rumble and wiggle their bums which I know is a dominance thing, but then it gets louder and results in teeth chattering and chasing around the cage. There has been instances of one of them pinning the other into a corner.
I am really unsure what to do with them because I don’t want a full fight to break out which I feel is very close to happening.

I’m sorry to hear this.
How old are they?
How big is their cage?

While rumbling, chasing and chattering are normal behaviours, they need to be able to come to an agreement over which one of them is dominant and the other needs to back down. If he doesn’t then that is when there are issues.
Pinning in the corner is concerning behaviour.
This guide shows the scale of dominance -
Where would you put your boys on this scale?

Dominance Behaviours In Guinea Pigs

If they are in the orange section, it would be best to have a temporary split for a few days, let them calm down and a reintroduction on neutral territory to allow them to make their decision about their relationship. They can then tell you how they feel.

Bonds In Trouble

This will help if they do decide they don’t want to remain together.
Boars can be cant live together, can’t live apart - remain bonded between bars but cannot share territory.

Boars: Teenage, Bullying, Fighting, Fall-outs And What Next?

Ive just had it with one of my boar pairs. Normal teenage dominance, nothing majorly concerning until one day there was a full on fight…no real warning, they just fell out. They now live side by side, are much happier but do show a lot of territorial dominance between the bars.

Thank you for this, we’ve chosen to separate them for a few days as their behaviour was in the orange section. I’m hoping they will be able to introduced in the next few days. They haven’t been able to rest this evening as they’ve been arguing all the time.

Let us know how things go.
Fingers crossed they decide they still want to be together
