I recently just rescued a guinea pig in addition to the two other guineadad pigs i own and i worry that the cage i currently have for them is not enough. is this coming that could be adequate for them? I don’t have a ton of horizontal space and need to have a cage that has a top due to our cats

I would probably say no. Piggies need space over one level area as opposed to levels. What length is it though as pictures can sometimes be deceiving.

Its a 4 ft cage then. Unfortunately its too small as although its 4ft theres a large area missing for the ramp area. Youd probably be better with a 5ft hutch (at least).

What hutch or cage do you have for now as there may be a way to adapt it.

do you have any recommendations for corner cages? i’ve been doing research for the last 2 hours and it’s 2:30 in the morning where i’m at and i can’t find anything

For three guinea pigs living together you need to have a cage measuring a minimum of 6ft x 2ft.

The guide below gives details of cage sizes for number of piggies. It is based on c&c cages but the measurements are still correct.

Cage Size Guide

If its on one level it will be fine for 3. The hutch you sent would be smaller fround space than that. As theres a cut out for the ramp on top level and then the ramp takes up the space on the bottom level.

okay maybe i’m just overthinking it. i wish i could give them more space either way

We always want the best. Maybe you could attach a playpen for when you're there to supervise them from the cat.

8 square feet

8 square feet is not enough for three piggies. You need at least 12 square feet for three guinea pigs.
Notice I always say at least. They will be happier the more space you can give beyond recommended cage sizes
Adding a playpen to increase space can help

Oh get mixed up with measurements. I was thinking 8ft long.

If you let us know where you are based then we can help with more specific suggestions.
When you use a 2 story cage/hutch only the ground floor space counts - it doesn't 'multiply out' to offer double.
They aren't natural climbers and just need unbroken floor space across 1 level to be happy.

If you have a c&c then you could build it to fit around a corner. Are the piggies all female or male or mixed? How you configure their space will depend partly on that.

You do have to bear in mind you may need to quarantine the piggy you rescued.

they’re all males and i’ve had them for a couple of weeks now and they’re doing great

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I am afraid three boys together does not work long term, it almost always ends up with fights. it is almost certainly unlikely to work in a small cage. To even attempt three boys you need an absolutely huge amount of space - it will require at least 30 square feet to give each piggy enough territory to help reduce arguments. Even then, character is the most important factor and it is almost impossible to get through with three males together.
