Our pigs stay in the living room with us, their smell isn’t bad as we clean them regularly but there is still a smell and I worry when guests are over that it’s actually worse than we think and we’re just used to it you know?

Saw this pet deodoriser wall plug in in the shop and thought it would be good to plug in near their cage however I don’t know if it’s safe for them? I’ve included photo of the plug in!

Obviously don’t want to put them in any harms way so any advice would be appreciated :) tysm x

Anything including plug ins which gives off a smell should be avoided as piggies have sensitive airways

I would also avoid using those. I have a tiny living room, so it is tempting to want to use some type of fragrance when the piggies cage might not be super fresh, but it can cause respiratory issues so I really avoid anything smelly. I always completely clean the cage and fleece before having guests over just in case. You can't really get rid of the hay smell, but I have accepted that 😆 One person has said it was impressive how they couldn't smell them at all and another person said they could only really smell them when they got close to the cage, but it wasn't necessarily a bad smell. The cage wasn't freshly clean that day either.

I also have a pet air purifier from Levoit running 12 hours a day near their cage, it's supposed to help specifically with animal odors. I have allergies which is the main reason I use an air purifier, but people do seem to have good results for smell issues.

I’m sure they don’t smell that bad if you clean them often. Don’t worry about visitors who will come and go. It’s your life and piggies are your life. 😍
