Hi everyone!
My 5 guinea pigs seem to be a bit bloated and pear-shaped and I don't know why. I stay clear of high calcium foods regularly because of strong white wee in the past when I first rescued them so I'm really confused what's going on. I've outlined my feeding schedule below, grateful for guidance if there is something I'm doing wrong.
Feeding schedule:
Unlimited timothy hay and water
Science selective nuggets - 1.5 tablespoons each (approximately)
1 cup of fresh veg/fruit each daily -
Daily:
Romaine lettuce leaf each
Chunk of cucumber each
1/5th of a pepper each
Regularly:
1 cherry tomato each
Chunk of celery each
Chunk of carrot each
Occasionally:
Small slice of apple
Small slice of banana
Handful of spinach*
Handful of grass*
Handful of parsley/coriander*
*I know these are high in calcium, I only feed one out of the three of these a week and rotate as much as possible.
All are happy, popcorning, zooming and none look like they are in any discomfort so maybe they are fine, just shaped this way.
I have heard 1 piggy's stomach gurgle a bit recently but she isn't fussed by it.
Thank you!
Lizzie
