I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not about this, but my piggie Pickles doesn't appear to be eating hay, I put pelletes in and he eats them straight away, but his hay appears to be untouched, should I be concerned about this? or is he just enjoying his pelletes more? he eats veggies when they are given to him and still drinks water, he's never been a big piggie and is a healthy normal weight for him, any ideas of what this could be please? thankyou

Is this a habit or a new development?

If it is recent, then a developing medical problem can be at the bottom of it, either dental, digestive and/or pain related. In this case, please switch to weighing daily at the same time either before or after his dinner to make sure that he is getting enough food in. Make sure that you can step in with topping him up with syringe feed as soon as he loses 50g/2 oz or more.
Complete Syringe Feeding Guide

If it is habit: Is he a single piggy or recently bereaved one? How old is he, how long have you had him and what is his background?
How much pellets and veg are you feeding? Hay should ideally make up to 80% of the daily food intake. Recommendations For A Balanced General Guinea Pig Diet

I'm so sad I lost my Guinea pig tonight she stopped eating in one day and would not take hay or water she took some pellets and I took her to vet and nothing stood out. First vet gave her a steroid which I think might have made her worse. Then blood was taken etc and today she seemed to have breathing issues and passed

I am very sorry for your loss!

Sadly, guinea pis can go downhill very quickly once one of the major organs is failing and the body is starting to close down; there is unfortunately nothing you can do once a piggy reaches that stage. The steroid injection may have just speeded things along a bit. It sounds like her heart has given out (the deep breathing from the diaphragm) at the end. :(

She got so active right at the end I thought she was getting better and then her head just kind of fell into the towel. I thought maybe she couldn't breathe but realized she had passed on. She couldn't walk yesterday like she was drunk - very weak. Doctors found no issue on blood work or exam, but she hadn't really had water and was rejecting good for a week. Doctor said he gave her small steroid injection to get her eating but I read that's the last thing a sick Guinea pig needs. I just want to learn from this so I'm aware next time. Very sad very sweet girl.

I'm so sorry for your loss ☹
luckily my piggie is eating pelletes, veg and drinking lots, I think it's become a habit for him as he was poorly about 2 weeks ago and was syringe fed recovery mix and mushed up pelletes. I'm keeping a close eye on him and he's still his usual squeaky self
