Hello, for a while Coco has been overweight, ever since he was 1 he was overweight but he has reached the peak. He looks like a cuboid now, he drags his dewlap as it is so big. For the past two months we have stopped feeding him carrots in hopes that he would lose weight. Unfortunately we see no progress. The vets confirmed he was overweight and recommended we give him smaller portions, that doesn't seem to make a difference however. Do you guys have any tips please?

Thanks a lot, Lily and Coco xx

Hi!

Please reduce any pellets to no more than 1 tablespoon; read our diet recommendations and the weight guide for further tips re. exercise and how you can get him to move. The more hay he is eating, the better. It should make over 80% of the daily food intake and can safely go up to nearly 100%.
It is not easy to reduce the overweight in guinea pigs at the age their bodies are at their heaviest in their whole life anyway.
