Rushing Liquorice to the vets!

I'll look into that in the morning, thanks xx

Liquorice is currently snuggled up to me, making a very contented grunting noise :)
She's the only piggy with the patience to sit around with me lol!

Oh that is just so cute. She sounds so close to you. How lovely to have that special bond.

In the piggy den, she hangs out with BonBon, when she's out, she hangs out with Treacle, BonBon is too busy trying to break out of the room with Humbug :))
Maybe I mollicot her too much and she's got used to it? none of the others know how to sit for more than 5 mins without either running off, or using the fleece as a toilet :))

I think all piggies are different and some like to relax with us more then others. It is always good to have a fleece handy during lap time!

I have one big one for floor time and a small one for lap time, she likes nothing better than snuggling up and sticking her back legs right out... some times she almost lies on her side and curls up like a cat, she really can be adorable when she wants to be :)

That is just so sweet. You are very lucky to have such a special bond with her. She clearly loves you very much.

I'll try and get some footage of floor time tomo, she's really coming out of her shell these days and gets up to quite a bit of mischief :)

Day 1 - Volterol only

Normal droppings this morning, she tries to bolt off when I grab her (knows what's coming :)))
Bathed her eye as normal, not overly weeping, looks good this morning. Then dose up with the volterol and leave her for 5 mins, then go back to check.
Her eye is fully open, no discharge, and she's going merrily about her way nibbling the bed.
She's out for an hour this afternoon with BonBon, just the 2 of them, and i'll monitor her eye over the next 12 hours and see how she goes, I might give her the tiacil over night if I feel she needs it..

Hour out side today, eye looking fab this morning, her personality seems to be changing along with it, atm she's more "Go away, i'm enjoying myself lol!"..
She's getting up to a lot more mischief everyday :))
She's currently napping after an exhausting run about outside :)

I've taken the decision to take Liquorice off the volterol eye drops. I think they're suppressing her appetite. She's gone of broccoli, tomatoes, and cucumber..
She's bright in herself, keeps following me, begging for treats but then turning her nose up at them. She's eating hay, nuggets, drinking etc, passing droppings ok, i'm just not sure if she's fed up off all this messing about, as she see's it.
She's not lost anymore weight, so that's a bonus I guess, and her eye although watery at times, is so much better. I'm thinking of managing it by bathing twice a day and see how she goes..
She's had a bountiful supply of fresh grass today, as she really enjoys her greens. I have ran out of lettuce and cabbage, two things she was enjoying, so shall re-stock tomo..

I was told to bathe my rabbits eyes in Chamomile tea as he is too stressful to have drops. That may help her. Of course the tea will need to be cold.

Her droppings are normal, she's as interactive as the rest, demanding the same, then just walks away after sniffing the offerings.. they've had a mountain of grass this morning, she was right in the middle of it, stuffing her face :))
Up to now, it's nuggets, hay, timothy hay, water and grass that's high on her agenda.
Going to get some from the green side at the shops, cabbage, lettuce and spinach and see if I can coax her back into eating her greens. I'll get some chamomile as well :)
I just don't get her though, as I can hear her squeaking well above the rest..

I really hope she starts to eat again. She sounds very well though which is wonderful.

I'm hoping she's just got plain fed up with the stuff, bit like when you eat a bag of sweets and you get sick of eating them :)) I'm the same, over the last few years, i've gone off a lot of foods I used to love, cheddar cheese being one of them..
I hardly eat any sweet stuff, could happily not eat deserts either.. guess she mirrors me :)

I think perhaps she's being picky because she knows what she needs and is trying to tell me (shame I don't speak guinea pig :)))
I tried oats, none of them like those....
Bonus is, she still rattles when I run my fingers up her back..

Never say no to a lettuce or spring cabbage for that matter

Been to the grocers, bought carrots, broccoli, spring cabbage, pak choi, a humongous cucumber (not kidding, it about 4 times bigger than the largest you can get from Tescos!)and Kos lettuce..
This bare it in mind is for the worlds 'fussiest' guinea pig..
Cabbage = Yes!
Lettuce = Yes!
Carrot = just a bit!
Cucumber = Nom!

I'm saving the rest for later ;) (pak choi we have in stirfry's so they get the spoils ;)

Well you had a successful shopping trip! I try to get my vegetables from the market as they are so much nicer and bigger too. Sometimes I am lucky to get celery with all the leaves which they love.

Humbug makes me laugh! If she doesn't like something, she just has to have it if the other piggies are eating it :)) I wasn't sure about celery, my piggies can be picky about foods they haven't had before

Bit crusty today, but looks fine after bathing - her eye is i'd say fully recovered, tear duct no longer showing any sign of swelling either.
Maintenance I think is the way forward for her, this is the second full day without any eye drops. She's still not eating as much as I'd like, but she tucks into the grass fine, eating her nuggets, drinking water etc, so small steps but worthwhile ones.
We're taking each day as it comes now, she's had no further weightloss (thank goodness!), just waiting for her weight to go back to where it was (she has about 70g to gain to get back to previous before illness weight).
She's never been a fat piggy, at her heaviest i'd say about 1.08kg.. she's currently swinging about .98kg, i'd be happy if she gets back to 1.0 tbh..
She's running about, looks happy in herself, she's officially just over 3, and after all the abscesses she's had over the few years she's been here i'm just happy to have got her to this age :))

Happy birthday beautiful girl! I am so happy she is doing so well. It sounds like she has almost recovered.

Glad to hear she is doing well x

She's currently reaking havoc around the bottom of the bed.. the duvet is like a huge tunnel, and she, along with Treacle, are residing there :)

popping piggy!

Day 3 of just bathing (saline solution).. eye is doing ok, she's putting weight on, already 'feels' a bit heavier and better in herself when I pick her up..
Had a few hours out on the lawn this afternoon, put a feed bowl in too full of nuggets, and she was tooig and froing from it all afternoon, and nomming on grass..
She's out in the bedroom with me atm, and I defo see a spring in her step :))
