Advice on Spaying a six year old piggy

I'm not an expert but I'd say any poops are better than no poops, if you are worried you could count the poops every hour or two then save them to show to the vet? When Puggle had acute bloat we saved all her poops every couple of hours in tupperware boxes just in case, I found them on shelves in the piggy room for days afterwards all labelled with the date and time lol :)
Yeah I would assume this too, at least her gut it working and active! This is a really good idea actually! I may start doing this if I'm still concerned, thank you! 😊

I would weigh her daily if not already as weight is always a good indicator of if or not she is eating enough.

Yeah already doing this, especially after the large drop in weight she had before her op, thank you 😊

How’s she doing today?
Thank you for asking she's good, currently weighing at 856g, and when I put fresh hay in the hay rack this morning she actually ran over to it with Willow! So all very good signs, I'm a little concerned about a red patch on her scar but she has her check up tomorrow and so I'll get them to check that then. And her poops are a squishy still so now she's eating her pellets and hay by herself again Ive withdrawn veggies for today to see if that helps her at all. Thank you for asking though x

Great news, I love when they bounce back definitely makes it worth it :). That and them feeling better, keep up the good work.

So so pleased I allowed her to have it done, she must feel like a new piggy! If I had left her it would've been for my own selfishness in having her longer, and you can't be selfish when it comes to owning a pet, I knew deep down the best thing for her was to get her done and I'm so pleased I did 😊

On the point of veggies, and I'm sorry to cram to much information into this single forum 😂 But have people got any ideas how I can get variation into my piggies diet, this sounds stupid but they are so fussy! And does anyone have any links/sample diet plans they have/use for their piggies?

PIG POOP! (Nothing that everyone on here hasn't seen before) but this is literally the poop most recently pass, I watched her do it (least creepy way possible) it's about 1cm long and a bit thin, is this okay? In terms of her state and would it be worth mentioning to the vet tomorrow?

I'd save it to show the vet and keep watching and counting until hopefully there are far too many to count and you can stop worrying :)
Keep pooping Honey!

There is something about piggy ownership that makes us excited about poop.
I was overjoyed when Jemimah deposited poop on my top yesterday, still a bit oddly shaped but it was poop!

It means working guts, which is good news for piggies everywhere. Her pellets are probably misshapen due to the GA.

I did actually throw this one but have he photo for evidence and I will see what she leave me tomorrow morning before I go 😂

I think it comes from poops being such a big part of owning piggies, you can tell so much from them!

Yeah that's what I thought, and also, I haven't syringe feed her yesterday or today and she's still gaining weight which means she's eating sufficient by herself. Would the GA still be in her system 2 days later? One of her medications is Metcam, and I think I heard the vet mention this can soften the stools, is this correct or have I got confused with something else?

Really hope its like it was for Puggle, we treasured every poop and there was 1 and a half just like in your photo in 12 hours... then 6 in 2 hours... then 21 in and hour and a half... then by morning it was like an explosion in a poop factory! Poops can be so precious, even 2 weeks after Puggle was sick I am viewing cage clean outs in a much more positive way...

To be honest it's probably the GA, I'm guessing she had the injectable, reversible in my experience it's taken a few days for the poop to get back to normal. Technically the poop she is poo'ing is yesterday's, and I imagine yesterday her guts where still not 100% then. In my experience I have found it can take 3-5 days for a piggy to completely bounce back from an operation. The fact she is eating and not losing weight is great news. Sounds like the cysts where causing alot of problems for her.

I'd love for this to happen, I'm a little more worried due to the issue I had with her poops in the days before her operation, but they are slowly looking better and better so that's good!

Okay thanks for this information, I guess when you put it that says she is lagging a day behind what I am on 😂 And okay I'll just closely monitor her poops and hopefully they return to normal soon, and yes they couldn't have been very comfortable for her at all! Poor baby :(

How is Honey feeling today?
Morning, she seems okay, she had her vet check, and they are very pleased with how she's doing, they're saying the soft poops are almost certainly from the Metacam, and to keep and eye on them, but don't be too concerned unless it become diarrhea, so that's out my mind at ease, pretty sure if I remember rightly she only has 2 days left on the metcam too so hopefully once that's finished they will start to normalise again. Thank you for asking. Things are all looking very positive, I will probably stay apprehensive until she has fully recovered but she's doing great 😊😊 would love to reach the 7 year mark 😊🤞🙏

Aw that's great news, I have a piggy with cysts who's over the 7 year mark possibly more closer to 8 now we where discussing the hormone injection rather than spaying her. She's only recently started losing some hair underneath, I'm monitoring her closely but she doesn't seem to affected. They are small cysts so we don't have concerns that they will burst.

Glad Honey is feeling better, such a relief!

Honey originally had the hormone implant and it worked amazingly for her to begin with but then her body decided it wanted to produce more eostrogen then it could deal with, so ended up with the decision to spay her or not. If they are only small, I would highly recommend the implant 😊

She's having a nice big guzzle of her water, even though I know she's been drinking because her pee pads have been wet, it's so nice to actually see it again 😊IMG_0874.webp
She seems so be so much better when Willow is in the downstairs part of the cage, when she decided to be social
